Sprint Triathlon Information
Age Restriction:
Racers must be 15 years or older.
Amenities:
Racers receive a G-force technical long sleeved shirt and a swim cap, a finishers medal, finish line food—donut holes, fruit, Powerade, and water.
Registration & Packet Pick up:
At the Ashland Chamber of Commerce Tent at the Festival Grounds, Bayview Park:
Friday, July 15 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, Saturday, July 16 9am-8pm .
There is no race day registration.
Lake Packet Pickup (for pre registered racers): Sunday 6:30am-7:30am
Bike Check-In:
Athletes will check bikes into transition on Sunday, July 17th between the hours of 6:00am—6:45am.
Chip Timing:
Competitors will pick up chips at the transition area on Sunday, July 17th.
Parking:
Parking is available free of charge across the street from Bayview park in the designated parking lot areas.
Race Numbers:
Your packet will contain one bib number. Everyone must wear swim caps issued at packet pickup NO EXCEPTIONS. Helmet stickers provided. Body marking is permitted.
The Course:
Please review the race routes prior to the race. it is your responsibility to know the course and to conduct yourself safely. PLEASE NOTE: that the bike and run courses are not closed to traffic. Be aware of your surroundings and proceed with caution at all driveways, intersections, and turns. Watch out for uneven pavement and other road hazards. Each person is individually responsible for completing the course. No assistance allowed. If you do not complete the swim, bike or run courses, you must notify a race official or race director as soon as possible. The Race director may alter the course due to conditions or safety concerns.
Swim:
The 500 meter (5k, 547 yard) swim takes place in the Chequamegon Bay at Bayview Beach. No fins, paddles or flotation devices are allowed. Wetsuits are permitted and recommended. If you need assistance during the swim, raise an arm overhead and call or seek assistance. The swim course will be properly monitored with lifeguards, kayaks, 2 motor boats and support personnel. Race officials reserve the right to pull any swimmer from the water that they feel is jeopardizing their safety or the safety of others. The water temperature will be posted at the start. For accountability and timing purposes your swim cap MUST be worn!!
Bike:
Bicycle Portion of the Triathlon. After transition go west on highway 2, turn left (south) on 14th Ave (Pizza Pub) and right on Main Street – Travel west on Main Street and turn left on Stuntz Ave. Stuntz Ave turn left on 7th Ave. past Penn baseball park to 11th Street and turn right. Stay on 11th Street until Ellis Ave (highway 13). Turn Left (South) on Highway 13 to Binsfield take a right stay on Binsfield to Beaser. Take a left on Beaser (south) to Hegstrom Road take a right (west) on Hegstrom to Sanborn Ave. Take a right on Sanborn (north) to Main Street and take a right (east) on main street 14th Ave. E. and take a left (north) to Highway 2 and take a right (east) on highway 2 until Bayview Park and turn left into Bayview park to transition area. Transition areas are in the same place for bicycle and run. Bib numbers must be attached to shirt. Bike Helmets are required. Headphones are not allowed. Obey all traffic laws. For your safety law enforcement and volunteers will be posted at heavily travelled intersections for traffic control. Riding is not permitted in the transition area. No drafting allowed; race marshalls will be on the course.
Transition:
No bikes will be allowed out of the transition area after 9:30am ABSOLUTELY NO GLASS.
Run:
The run is a 3.1 mile out and back course that runs along beautiful Chequamegon Bay.
Water Stations:
Water & Powerade will be available at or around the 5 mile, 10 mile and the finishline.
General Sprint Triathlon Information:
All race officials and volunteers will wear orange vests identifying them. Please follow the instructions of all race officials. These people are there for your safety. The race directors reserve the right to change or cancel the race if required by adverse conditions. The post-race party and awards presentation will be located in the festival tent near the transition area following the race. Please remove your belongings from the transition area as soon as possible as security will be lifted from the transition area approximately 30 minutes after the last finisher.
